Getting to know ECTEL
The Eastern Caribbean Telecommunications Authority (ECTEL) was established on 04 May 2000 by Treaty signed in St. George's, Grenada, by the Governments of five Eastern Caribbean States - Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
ECTEL is the regulatory body for telecommunications in its Member States. It is made up of three components - A Council of Ministers, a Regional Directorate and a National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (NTRC) in each Member State.
Customers Get Over $2M Compensation
The Consumer Affairs Unit (CAU) of the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) secured over $2.1 million dollars in compensation for utility customers.
OUR Moves to Assess JPS
The Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) is moving to assess the implementation of the Jamaica Public Service Company Limited's (JPS) Net Billing Programme.
World Forum on Energy Regulation
This month energy experts from 60 countries met in Istanbul for the 6th World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFER). Global energy challenges and prospects were discussed under 4 broad themes:

Alparslan Bayraktar Elected at World Energy Forum
The International Confederation of Energy Regulators (ICER) has elected Mr Alparslan Bayraktar (Turkey) as its new Chairman. The announcement was made today at the close of the sixth World Forum on Energy Regulation (WFER VI) in Istanbul.
WSIS Forum 2015
LONDON, 27 MAY 2015 - In an address delivered at the World Summit on the Information Society Forum 2015 taking place on 25 - 29 May 2015 in Geneva, Professor Tim Unwin, Secretary-General of the Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation (CTO) has called for "a Sustainable Development Goal specifying that ICTs are universally accessible and used effectively for development interventions" to be added to the post-2015 development goals.
